"The one thing I ask of the Lord - the thing I seek most - is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord's perfections and meditating in His temple... a single day in Your courts is better than a thousand anywhere else! I would rather be a gatekeeper in the house of my God than live the good life in the homes of the wicked." Psalm 27:4; 84:10
In YWAM our motto is: "Know God and make Him known." The focus is on first knowing God and then making Him known. That is where this ministry was birthed from. It focuses on developing the heart culture of a people who prioritize worship in their lives. Everything we do, (ministry, job, relationships), stems from intimacy with God. Intimacy leads to worship, which leads to good stewardship, which leads to evangelism. Our heart is to emphasize the "one thing" from the verse above. Everything else comes second to that! Our heart is to glorify God first, minister to His people, and create a place where His presence can dwell. We seek to hear the heartbeat of the Father and to create an atmosphere where His presence can be manifested. We believe that worship is not only a moment in time or a song set before a sermon, but a lifestyle of response - the response of a heart that is loved by and in love with the Creator.
We seek to discover more of God at all costs through intimacy, devotion, and community; respond to God out of love in personal, corporate, and lifestyle worship; overflow into the community; and move into action by impacting the nations. In order to achieve this, we focus on four main facets: Worship Team Skills and Leadership Development, Worship Ministry, Community Development, and Communications. Check out the “CDMT” ministry page on the YWAM Brisbane website to learn more about what each facet entails! www.goywam.com/cdmt.html
Right now, the CDMT team is made up of three people: Hannah Lenz, Lana Hollands, and Elyssa Buhl. Here’s a glimpse into their decision to come back and what their involvement is within the ministry:
// “During my Phase 3 of BLS (Basic Leadership School) back in 2013, God was stirring my heart for worship and how it should be a lifestyle. I knew there was so much more to worship than just ‘a powerful worship time’ at church, youth group, camps, etc. This is where I felt God leading me to stay on this base specifically for the worship ministry. I desire to see this base be a group of people who are living their lives as worshipers. As a part of CDMT, I oversee The Dwelling Place, which is a ministry for YWAM Brisbane staff to come together on Friday nights to rest and recharge. We meet in houses because our heart is to gather as one family: in honesty, authenticity, and vulnerability. Along with that, I lead worship on base and work on rostering for all of worship on base.” Lana Hollands \\
// “I was serving with Youth With A Mission for about six years as a DTS staff and school leader and throughout that time I felt a stirring in my heart for worship; not just the momentary gatherings, but cultivating the lifestyle of a worshipper. In 2014, I was approached by the Eldership on base about starting a worship ministry and after some prayer I felt that was where God was leading me. I work with the CDMT as the head of the department; I oversee Worship Team and Leadership Development, Worship Ministry, Media and Communications, Community Development, and Intercession, among other random things here and there for our base. I believe that God has something big for this place that is not limited to Brisbane alone. Joel 2:28 says, "And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions." I believe we are in these days and worship plays a massive part in ushering in His Presence! There is healing, power, Presence and glory that is released when the people of God worship Him in Spirit and in truth! What a worthy cause in which to invest my life! I would love to see unity in the body of Christ that makes us a strong army of worshipers, taking a stand wherever we are, linked arm in arm to see the kingdom of Heaven released here on earth!” Hannah Lenz \\
// “I did a DTS here at YWAM Brisbane in 2012, but was led back home to go to the University of MN – Twin Cities for graphic design. After a year of school, I had a significant sense that something big was going to change in my life. Although I was still enrolled at the University, I began praying through what I would do if something came up. I invited main mentors and friends into my blindness and we collectively agreed that God was leading me elsewhere, so when Hannah reached out to invite me back to Brisbane, I knew right away that this was it. Worship in general has always been a big passion for me and before coming back, I was leading at my home church, Vision of Glory. The driving force of my life is the call of intimacy with God so to me, worship is the natural vehicle to intimacy. A plumb line verse for me is Matthew 12:34, “Out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks.” When we are transformed from the inside out, the natural response to life's circumstances becomes worship. With the CDMT, worship for me looks like involvement in Media/Communications, leading worship (in song) for different ministries on base, and seeking God’s heart as our team builds the foundations and dreams together about what this ministry is supposed to be.” Elyssa Buhl \\
We are so excited to be here, to press our ears against the Father’s heart to hear the unsung melodies and the unheard lyrics He has inside. We don’t know what they fully sound like yet, but each note He unveils makes our eyes grow a little wider in wonder.
