Worship isn't about me; it's about who God is and how magnificent and marvelous his works are. It's about connecting with his heart and feeling overcome with the desire to give God everything.
I've been realizing more and more the importance of worship and learning how to incorporate worship into the everyday tasks that I do. And it's more of a challenge than you would think. Shocker, I know.
But let's be real here, how often do we get caught up in our everyday tasks, responsibilities, thoughts, and feelings. We tend to go into this auto-pilot mode going from task to task until all of a sudden it's dinner time and you look back and think what did I do today, and was I even aware of God’s presence. What God was doing in my life, the people around me and the places that I emerged.
And 60% of the time my answer is no. I'm not always aware of God’s presence around me, and I'm not always aware of what he is doing in people and places.
But I'm learning how to become more aware, gradually and learning, how to give God my everything including my time.
And here's some ways I'm doing this:
1. Spend time with God.
I've never been a morning person, but I've seen the difference in my days if I have or haven't spent time with God in the morning before my day starts, and praying for my day, reading his word and worshiping him by soaking in his presence.
2. Spend time with God.
I've been trying this new thing where before I start my tasks, I pause to take a minute, thank God for the job I'm about to do and ask him to teach me something about his character while I do it.
3. Spend time with God.
I've also started asking him during my lunch times as it is around the middle of the day; God is there anything else that you want me to do today. Eg. Bless someone, pray about something, go somewhere, etc.
4. Spend time with God.
The more I seek God, the more I feel refreshed, and I feel more alive. I feel whole and complete, and I start to notice that I become more like him throughout my day.
So I'll summarize the four simple steps that I'm putting into practice into one central point, and that is to spend time with God. And that’s what worship as a lifestyle is its only spending time with God and including him in the things we’re doing and giving him the glory while doing it.
Like I said earlier, I'm not perfect at this, and I don't think I'll ever be but the journey and process of spending more time with God are definitely worth the effort, the self-discipline and the time for sure.
