Coffee and Communications is part of MAD DTS
The world runs on the fuel of coffee and communications. These two artistic expressions are the most influential platforms in our modern society. It's over coffee that creatives explore and build their art and it's through communications that those art forms are shared and enjoyed by the world over. The beauty of art is that it's a mutual language spoken in every country of the world – you don’t need a translator to tell your story! Through the innovation of coffee expression and latte art, and the world of communications, team up with God, share His stories and make a change in the world! This Discipleship Training School allows you to deepen your relationship with the Creator as well as learn to influence the world around you with your gifts and talents. That’s what it’s all about!
During this DTS you'll explore more in depth cafe culture, learning practical cafe and barista skills and how to influence an innovative and modern society. We also have a place for those who love to camp out in a cafe all day, writing, journaling, and finding inspiration for creative pursuits. This DTS is all about cafe culture and the incredible things that can come from lively intersections of culture, creativity, and innovation.

ABOUT THE DTS
The Discipleship Training School consists of two phases. The Training Phase where you hear topics that take you deeper into your relationship with God. You learn things like the character and nature of God, Hearing His voice, God's Father heart for us.The Outreach Phase takes a more practical approach and applies the principles of loving others all over the world. Teams from the DTS split up and travel to different outreach destinations. In short, you first get to know God, then focus on making Him known.

During the DTS, you'll have teaching on biblical topics such as:

Hearing the Voice of God
The Father Heart of God
Spiritual Warfare, Worship & Intercession

Cost of Training Phase:
$4850 AUD
For currency conversion, click here. This includes tuition, accommodation, meals, some local outreach costs. Does not include things like visas, health insurance, personal spending, laundry costs, or outgoing calls.
This is where what you learn is put into practice. The outreach phase is where you take what you've just learned in the classroom and make it practical! You'll be spending 7-8 weeks serving in different locations, locally and internationally with a team from your DTS. Outreach locations vary depending on the school and/or focus. You'll find out your outreach locations during your school. Fees also vary according to the location you're going to.
Cost of Outreach Phase:
$3000 - $5000
Cost varies based on destination. This includes overseas outreach flights, accommodation, meals, transportation. It does not include things like vaccinations, travel insurance, or personal spending.

THE MEETING PLACE CAFE
During the course of Lecture Phase, you will learn and develop your barista, communication and serving skills. Practicing Hospitality and serving not only each other but also the community we live in.
From pulling shots (making espresso shots) to exploring Brisbane's coffee culture, you will venture of your own journey of developing your own drinks to setting up events. As YWAM Brisbane, we are committed to teaching and equipping young people to be sent out with new skills that can empower them to cultivate the kingdom of God.
We also have further training in the café with the Café Internship which runs alongside the BLS (Basic Leadership School), where you can grow in your talents and character for another 18 months.
